I am grateful to live in Madison—a wonderfully generous and caring community. With record levels of giving throughout the COVID crisis, Madison residents have affirmed their commitment to supporting one another and making Madison a better place for all to live.
It is with great pleasure that I share with you our 2022 Annual Report. In addition to providing the operating results for the past year, this report highlights the activities of five of our donor-advised funds: Neighbor to Neighbor, APK Charities, Mad4Trees, demandZERO, and Guilford Savings Bank Charitable Trust. These funds, along with thirty-one others, make up the endowed portion of the Madison Foundation. Through exploring their purpose, you will gain a deeper understanding of the breadth in which the Foundation has expanded over its twenty-five-year history.
In addition to our endowed funds, we also engage in an annual appeal, which raises unrestricted funds for supporting various grant requests from the community. Contributions are also possible by joining our Heritage Society, establishing future funding through your estate plans.
In 2022, contributions to The Madison Foundation and its endowed funds along with appreciation of our investments totaled more than $476,000. Total disbursements of $225,000 in grant requests to local nonprofits reflect our Board of Directors’ commitment to serving the people of Madison.
